Panasonic and UNESCO Jointly Release the 2017 World Heritage Calendar Application

Tokyo, Japan - The UNESCO World Heritage Centre and Panasonic Corporation announced today the release of the 2017 World Heritage calendar application for PCs and tablets. The calendar application is available in five languages (Japanese, English, French, Chinese, and Spanish).

After installing the application on a PC or tablet, the user can enjoy stunning photographs of World Heritage sites around the world. The 2017 calendar features, for January, the Himeji-jo in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, which is the finest surviving Japanese castle architecture; and for May, the works of Antoni Gaudi, Spain.

UNESCO and Panasonic have created wall calendars and youth calendars in Japan since 1995, and calendar applications for PC and iPad/Android since 2010, with the aim of promoting environmental education through the protection of World Heritage sites. The content was developed and provided with the special aim of promoting youth education centering on UNESCO Associated Schools (9,000 schools in 180 countries worldwide). We will further broaden our calendar content in the future.

Panasonic will be an exhibitor at CES 2017, one of the world's leading showcases for innovation. The Panasonic Booth will be located in the Main Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (Booth #12908), from January 5 - 8, 2017. Panasonic and Skolkovo Foundation Set Priorities for Strategic Cooperation in 2017

Moscow, Russia - On December 16, in the framework of the Russia-Japan Business Dialogue, held within the official visit of Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, to Japan, Panasonic Russia Company and Skolkovo Foundation signed an agreement setting strategic areas of business cooperation in 2017.

According to the roadmap, the parties intend to make an extensive use of their core competencies and resources in favor of the national economies of Russia and Japan strengthening co-operation proposed by the leaders of both countries. The parties will focus on the development of innovation in high-tech and export-oriented industries - biomedicine, robotics, information and data storage, urban technologies and agriculture. Panasonic experts are going to participate in designing of Moscow International Medical Centre based on Skolkovo Innovation Center; to involve Skolkovo startups in development and implementation of advanced technologies for indoor farming and urban management; to support Skolkovo initiatives in the area of promotion of technological entrepreneurship in Russia and the development of regional innovation systems. One of the goals of cooperation is to increase commercial and industrial potential of the Far East of the Russian Federation.

Today Skolkovo Foundation has signed an important document with Panasonic, the world`s leader in electronics and system solutions. I`d like to point out that this is not the first step of our cooperation, but its development and expansion. Our first partnership agreement was signed two years ago exactly. The Miss International Contestants Become Ambassadors to Promote Panasonic Beauty Care Products to the World

Tokyo, Japan - Panasonic Corporation, Appliances Company (hereafter referred to as "AP") sponsored the 2016 Miss International global contest on October 27 and the 2017 Miss International Japan contest on October 25, 2016. These global beauty ambassadors helped promote Panasonic beauty products.

With the desire to "nurture and support women who would be active in the international society," Miss International has undertaken a wide range of activities that help contribute to international goodwill and global peace. Empathizing with this philosophy, AP began sponsoring the Miss International Japan and global contests last year. AP also provided contestants from each country opportunities to experience Panasonic beauty products and share their experiences on their SNS accounts, thereby launching a promotion that utilize the contestants' media appeal.

This year, AP planned various events around the 2017 Miss International Japan contest held on October 25th and 2016 Miss International global contest held on October 27th.

Firstly, from October 8th to 10th, AP made available its beauty care products, cordless headphones, digital cameras, etc. in a room at the hotel where the contestants were staying, and gave contestants a chance to experience these products during their free time. On the 11th, Panasonic organized a seminar introducing the beauty product line-up and also the features, benefits, and functions of each product. Also on the same day, at the Miss International global contest press conference, Panasonic appointed all 69 contestants as the "Panasonic Beauty Ambassadors" who experienced a wide range of Panasonic products during the competition and shared their impressions with their followers.

These contestants have on average 3,000 followers and are highly influential as key female opinion leaders. During a similar promotional campaign last year, contestants uploaded over 300 SNS posts, which received more than 1.2 million "likes." Once again this year, they have actively uploaded posts since their arrival to Japan, and there are high expectations that even more people will be reached this year.

On the 22nd, all 69 contestants gathered at the Panasonic Center Tokyo. Panasonic's lecturers held a seminar on hair styling using the nanoe hair iron and facial care using esthetic products. The contestants learned about different methods while experiencing the benefits offered. Then the contestants were given a tour of the showroom.

At the 2016 Miss International global contest held on the 27th, Panasonic provided equipment for stylists to use back stage such as hair dryers and hair irons to offer support while contestants had their hair and makeup done. Nano care hair dryers and hair irons that give hair a sleek, silky finish were put to the test at one of the greatest beauty pageants around the world. AP also provided "Digital Camera Lumix GF8" as an additional prize to the Grand Prize winner, and both the "Ion Effector" and the "Facial Equipment Dense Foam Beauty Salon Treatment" to the top 5 contestants. Mr. Dohno, the Managing Officer of AP joined the winners on stage and presented them with certificates.

At the 2017 Miss International Japan contest, AP also presented the Grand Prize winner with the "Air Massager Leg Refresh" and the top 5 finishers with the "Ultrasonic Toothbrush, Doltz." The 69 global pageant contestants will serve as "Panasonic Beauty Ambassadors" for 1 year, until October next year. It is expected that some of the contestants will also be active as models for catalogs, POPs, and websites.

Panasonic Avionics Solutions - The Industry Leader

Panasonic Avionics Corporation supports over 300 airlines worldwide, serves over 1.4 billion airline passengers each year, and has over 35 years of industry firsts. Global Communication Services:
Over 50% of airlines have chosen Panasonic for connectivity solutions. In-flight communication allows for working, enjoying live entertainment, and having everything in today's daily life in terms of connectivity on board an airplane. Also, the functioning of the systems can be monitored in real time. If there is a problem, mechanics can be on stand-by with the necessary components when the airplane lands, providing much more efficient, effective services.

Panasonic Technical Services:
Every year, over 27,000 aircraft are serviced in 68 maintenance stations and 9 repair facilities. Panasonic Avionics created an operation called "Mission Control," which combines the network operations center, the maintenance operations center and product support engineers all in one location to conduct 24-hour monitoring. Paul Margis has a vision of what he calls a "Zero Touch" airline, where "the airline marketing from the ground, the airline maintenance, the engineering groups, and my teams of maintenance can be remotely monitoring airlines, potentially upgrading and improving them as they move around the world. So you only touch the airplane when there's really something physical to do to it."

Global 4-D Weather Service:
Panasonic is the only private entity in the world that is operating a 4-dimensional global forecast system. The Panasonic-created 4-D weather model incorporates movements in time along with precise weather sensors to provide accurate weather forecasts. Communicating forecasts to the airline on the ground and the pilots in the cockpit enables them to make the best judgments about how to maneuver the aircraft, to minimize any type of turbulence in flight and to get to the destination safely.
